  • The Hôtel-Dieu creates a stong impression as you arrive in the Perigord village of Hautefort.
Founded in 1669 by the Marquis Jacques-Francois of Hautefort after a royal edict in 1662 by Louis XIV advocating the creation of provincial venues for the poor, the building remains a rare exemple of a foundation hospital.
Since 1994 and the creation of the museum, one part of the building is dedicated to ist history and its life (a reconstruction of a patients' ward, a sacred art room and the chapel) and on the upper floor the history of medicine is narrated in the four exhibition rooms.
Open every days between 18 march and 12 november.
