Learn different dances from the Middle Ages. The workshops are led by Catherine Ingrassia, a specialist in medieval dance with a doctorate in history.
For each dance: contextualization and presentation of historical sources and choreographic choices based on gestural codes, movements and postures gleaned from iconography and medieval texts. Some interpretations of early written dance sources are also offered. Several types of dance are covered: jugglers? dances, Caroles, Tresques, para-liturgical dances, courtly and popular dances from the 12th to 14th centuries, Basse danses, Moresque, Saltarell.
Open to all, beginners or not, children aged 7 and over accompanied by at least one parent. Participation free, booking requested but not obligatory."
