Description
Presented by Foni Le Brun-Ricalens, honorary director of INRAP, Luxembourg, and François Bon, professor of prehistory at Jean Jaurès University, Toulouse.
Among the various stone tools that mark the Paleolithic period, elongated tools known as “blades”—most often sharp along their two longest, unworked edges—were so successfulthat they became ubiquitous in the Upper Paleolithic stone tool industries of Eurasia—as well as in many other contexts, across time and space.
But how can we explain the enduring success of these “laminar phenomena” among Paleolithic hunter-gatherers over time?
